Through landscapes of shimmering open tunings, Isabel Shaye weaves sweeping melodies and intricate guitar work. Echoing the spirit of artists like Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell, her music draws from folk traditions while venturing into territories of her own imagining. Her meticulous writing pairs guitar and vocals together in intimate conversation, telling stories in counterpoint of love, nature, and consciousness.

Though Isabel has been in and around music in myriad forms since childhood, songwriting remained for her a mostly private ritual—a sacred and solitary act—ever since she began teaching herself guitar and writing music at 13. Recently, however, she and her songs have decided it's time to emerge from the depths. An inevitable unveiling and a quiet relief. In addition to her songwriting, Isabel is also a metalsmith and clarinetist. She is currently based in Boston and Brooklyn, NY.

Isabel’s debut album, The Giant Squid, will be out this summer. Written between 2018-2020 and finally recorded in 2024, the album explores mysteries of the mind and elusive creatures of the depths.

Isabel was recently selected as a 2025 New Folk Finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competition.
